It's recommended that you set up your login info before your account transitions so you're ready to go on day one at Schwab. Login info must be established within three months of the account transition to maintain paperless preferences.

At TD Ameritrade, each account has a user ID and password, which can be used by either account owner to access the account. If you have multiple accounts at TD Ameritrade, you must digitally link the accounts together so that you can access all your accounts by logging in with one user ID and password.

At Schwab, login info is tied to an individual person. Each Schwab client has their own unique Login ID and password, which automatically link all the accounts that they own or are authorized to access. When you log in to Schwab.com or the Schwab Mobile app, you will see all of your accounts together on your Accounts Summary page. You only ever need to set up one set of credentials.
