Narrator: Looking to send money through an international wire transfer?
To begin, navigate to Move Money and select Send Wire.
Move Money, then Send Wire is clicked
Before we begin, here's a checklist of the information you'll need during the process, so you can make sure you have it all ready. You'll need to know the account you want to transfer from, the amount, and the date of the transfer. You'll also need the SWIFT (BIC) number for the bank you'll be transferring to, the account number, as well as the recipient's name, address, and country. Make sure that your recipient's banking details are accurate and up to date before proceeding. If you have all that information together, you can begin.
Checklist appears
Select the account that you'll be sending money from. For this example, we will proceed with a brokerage account.
To quickly send money to an account that you've sent a wire to before, click on the link above Wire type. This option will automatically fill out the form using previous wire transfer details.
For the Wire type, there are three options to choose from.
If you are wiring money internationally in USD, select International (USD). Alternatively, if you are wiring in another currency, select International (Foreign Currency).
To begin, we'll select International (USD).
International (USD) is clicked
Next, enter the amount you'd like to wire and the date you'd like to schedule the wire for.
Then, continue to fill out the remainder of the wire transfer form. If you have any further credit instructions, such as when purchasing a home, be sure to include them by selecting Yes under Further instructions. You'll also want to make sure that the secondary institution's account information is up to date as well.
Wire transfer form is filled out
Alternatively, if you select International (Foreign Currency) as your Wire type, you'll need to begin by selecting what currency the international recipient will receive the funds in. Then, provide the amount you wish to be debited. You can be debited in either USD, or a fixed amount of the foreign currency you previously selected. Once done, you can continue to fill out the remainder of the wire transfer form as previously explained.
Wire transfer form is filled out
Once you've completed the form for either International (USD) or International (Foreign currency), click Continue to begin reviewing your wire information. If everything looks correct, click I agree to each of the Terms and conditions and click Submit to begin your wire transfer.
Terms and conditions are agreed to, and Submit is clicked
For International (Foreign Currency) wires, a Schwab representative will contact you to confirm your wire details once you submit the wire transfer request. The recipient will then receive the wire within 5 business days.
